twelve. I can pack the forks and spoons in my carry on. The knifes are a problem. They won’t let me have them in my carry on. I don’t want to put them in my checked luggage because they will disappear. It gets very expensive to ship them separately. Any suggestions? Maybe I can fly from Canada. I don’t know what the restrictions are from there.

I doubt any airline flying to the UK from anywhere would allow you to carry knives in your carry on.
I’d suggest you didn’t bring them with you, but either buy them when you get here, or order them by mail order, for instance
They should be fine in your main luggage. Get travel insurance on the off chance they go missing.
It’s highly unlikely you’ll have them nicked; we’re not THAT uncivilised over here, you know!
Unless it’s something really unique and rare that you can only buy locally, it’d be far less of a headache just to wait and buy the service when you arrive in the UK.
The restriction against knives is likely to be just as stringent wherever you fly from.
If you do fly with them I suggest you place them in your checked luggage, and take out insurance in case of loss or damage. (Why do you assume that they “will” disappear? They “may” disappear, but probably won’t. The vast majority of people manage to fly internationally without having items go missing from their luggage.)
