Hi, I am in IT and make above 90K. My employer is sending me from Seattle to Denver for a year long gig. They will fly me over once, I will be there for 2 weeks (company will pay for the fly and the accommodation) and then my wife and I will drive down there (20 hours drive). They are paying little over $1500 for the relocation cost. We don’t have much luggage but I do need to ship my TV and other stuff. I have a furnished apartment in Seattle which costs me $700. It will cost me around the same there but un-furnished apartment so I have to bear a cost of furniture and other stuff.

Now, do you think they are being cheap? or not paying enough or am I over reacting?
One more thing: We don’t have state tax in Washington state but there is a state tax in Colorado which comes out to be $3000 yearly from my pocket.

I am planning to relocate out of state. (Southern CA to WV). I am not able to drive across the country in my car. I am going to fly there and have my belongings shipped at a later time. Hiring a moving company and van is way out of my budget. Heavy items in boxes will be expensive to ship. Can I take 2 suitcases and 1 carry on bag? One suitcase will have clothes, the other will have shoes and some important books. The carry on bag will have personal items and my business portfolio. Is that allowed? What is the limit? Any other suggestions?
Much appreciated.

I was just wondering if you can put fireworks in your BAGGAGE, the bags that you don’t fly with, but you pick up at the airport you land at (baggage claim). they dont go through security, and they aren’t brought on the plane as carry-ons.

My mom and I travel a lot, and when we want to get somewhere far away in no time flat, we fly.

We have to buy a new luggage set every time we travel somewhere. Our old ones have holes, the zippers don’t work, the handle’s busted, wheels are missing, the straps are seperated… basically, the luggage is beat up beyond repair. Why is that?

You can’t get on an airplane with a snow globe in your carry on. Why does it have to be on the carry on? Well, read above. Anyway, it can go through so many X-Rays that it glows green, but it can’t go in your luggage. I had to have it shipped.

The security takes waaaaay too long. Take off your shoes, jacket, socks, hair, leg, and brain before proceeding through the metal detector. BEEP! Whoops. Looks like the iron in your blood set it off. Please sit and wait while we drain your blood and check it for harmful substances.

It’s too much. What’s your airport hell story?
