From the Carnival website: Do you have luggage restrictions?
Guests are encouraged to limit their checked luggage to two suitcases per person, with each suitcase not to weigh more than 50 pounds and not exceed 16″h x 24″w x 30″length.
In many ports, guests have the option of carrying luggage on board at embarkation and off the ship at the end of the cruise as long as it does not exceed 24″w x 16″h. This is an advantage you may want to consider as it will allow for quicker easier access to your bags.
If your bag is huge, make sure you get a porter at the cruise terminal upon debarkation. The lines to clear customs can be long and hauling a large suitcase can be a drag…mark the handles with brightly colored ribbon or plastic flag marking tape (from the hardware store). There will be a sea of luggage in the cruise terminal and it all looks alike!
Some tips about the Port of Galveston…park at Lighthouse Parking. They will shuttle you to/from the parking lot to the cruise terminal. You can check your bag(s) immediately and then board.
If you use the cruise terminal parking, you have to drop off your luggage, park your car and return to the cruise terminal. We don’t like this because your party has split up while the driver parks the car and the return shuttles are slow. Waiting outside the terminal is a drag.
Also, Lighthouse is cheaper, especially if you make an advance reservation.
the biggest you can bring is
16”h x 24”w x 30”l and not over 50 pounds
As for carry on nothing bigger 24”w x 16”h
The bag restrictions are only if you want the workers to carry it in for you. I always do it myself and save a few bucks. If you have wheels on your suitcase its no problem at all.
I think they can be any size as long as you’re carrying them to your room yourself.
They recommend that you don’t bring too much however, the normal state rooms are not very big so they say anything is okay as long as it fits in your room.
