Port of Entry airport was LAX. I'm a little old grandmother and somehow I set off the metal detector (I think it was my sunglasses) anyhow, they made a huge big deal over it. They put me in a holding cage and then they frisked me and did a pat down on me. Very embarrassing. My husband thought it was one of the funniest things he'd ever seen. Security takes a long time because they have to make sure people aren't taking dangerous items on planes. Checking your bags can lead to damage but just pack light instead and carry it on. Plan ahead for carrying things on, there have to be some rules. Go with the flow and you won't get stressed out. I fly a whole lot and have never set off the metal detector.
